【About honeydip】

The summer mirage of Japanese shoegaze band honeydip, reuniting after a long separation of twenty years, returns with a reissue of their classic album “Another Sunny Day” and tours overseas for the first time!

Vocal guitarist Shibuya Jun, guitarist Hara Eiji, bassist Kajimoto Takahito and drummer Hayashi Masato, formed the band in 1995. honeydip stood out in the peak of Japanese shoegaze at the end of the last century with their unique tone. Ethereal string sounds construct vast soundscapes, the floating and sinking progressions tread restlessly, and the transparent vocals sing of youthful melancholy, embodying honeydip’s emotional aesthetics. In 2000, the band signed with Embryo, the record label under LUNA SEA guitarist SUGIZO, and released the renowned album “Another Sunny Day.”

During the band’s active eight years, they released four albums. Even after their disband in 2004, their music continued to influence the next generation of shoegaze fans. The music video for “Summer’s Gone,” a track from “Another Sunny Day,” has just crossed 700,000 views on YouTube this year – the densely clouded sky, the girl wading through glimmering scales, capturing the lonely summer that ended in tears, continues to be a classic in the hearts of countless fans.

【About cruyff in the bedroom】

Recognized as the “Japanese King of Shoegazer” and one of the “Big Three of Japanese Shoegaze”, the renowned cruyff in the bedroom is set to perform in Hong Kong for the first time!

cruyff in the bedroom emerged in 1998 amidst the football fever of Japan’s first appearance in the World Cup. The trio, consisting of vocalist and guitarist Hata Yusuke, guitarist Sannohe Shigekazu, and bassist Hironaka Hideyuki, formed the band. Named after the band’s favourite Dutch football player Johan Cruyff, several of their early works incorporated football as key visual element.

Infusing the emotional shoegaze foundation with tenuous pop melodies and sweet, soft vocals, cruyff in the bedroom weaves a unique tone. As of today, the band has released seven albums along with multiple singles and EPs. In 2013, twenty four Japanese and international bands, including familiar names like RINGO DEATHSTARR, PLASTIC GIRL IN CLOSET, and Shin’da Boku no Kanojo recorded a tribute album titled “JESUS CRUYFF SUPER STAR” to celebrate cruyff in the bedroom’s 14th anniversary, showcasing the band’s solid position in the shoegaze scene.

Moreover, the vocalist and guitarist Hata Yusuke is also the organizer of shoegaze event “Total Feedback,” which has been held monthly at Koenji HIGH in Tokyo since 2008.
